Timmy's Nightmare

The game was designed for 2021's Global Game Jam with the theme of Lost and Found. We set out to create an isometric shooter with a story about a boy who lost his Teddy Bear. What we ended up with was a deep narrative where the player is playing Timmy as if they were young and imagining themselves being read the story about the real Timmy from their parents.

Typhon Studios is looking for talented Animators who possess a passion for in-game animation at our studio. If you are interested in building ground-breaking animation systems within a creative and unconstrained environment, please get in touch. Animators with technical, problem-solving skills are especially encouraged to apply. This position is unpaid at the moment.
WHAT WE DO
We create beautifully crafted narratives that are used to make immersive experiences. We work hard to build captivating animations that reinforce our stories. We participate in multi-discipline gameplay reviews, ensuring animation data is responsive and implemented with a strong consideration of technical and gameplay constraints. We encourage ownership and creativity where everyone's voice is heard.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Work closely with animators and programmers to devise, implement, and debug animation systems and gameplay mechanics. Collaborate with the Animation, Code and Design Leads, to achieve the perfect balance between animation fidelity and gameplay responsiveness. Verify the quality of the animations integrated into the game by playing regularly. Contribute to the set-up and maintenance of the animation pipeline, and be proactive with its improvement. Self-motivated and willing to get involved in wider areas.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Game Design/Computer Science or equivalent experience. Outstanding demo reel.
SKILLS
Experience using a major animation package (eg Maya, Motionbuilder, etc).Positive, solution-orientated individual, with a deep-rooted interest in video games, and game development. Skill in animating the human figure to create realistic character animations. An understanding of development issues in getting animations into a game. Bring innovation and resolution to technical problems and challenges throughout production. Interpersonal and communication skills to work closely with Artists, Designers and Programmers.

Typhon Studios is looking for a talented Level Designer who possesses a passion for building beautiful experiences for players at our studio. If you are interested in building complex and beautiful worlds for our players to inhabit within a creative and unconstrained environment, please get in touch. Level Designers with technical, problem-solving skills are especially encouraged to apply. This position is unpaid at the moment.
WHAT WE DO
We create believable worlds that players can get immersed in. We create believable characters using both AI and animation techniques. We develop strong narratives that can be reinforced by our well built level design. We follow an iterative process where we tune and polish features.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Work closely with animators and designers and programmers to devise, implement, and debug levels for our games. Collaborate with the Lead Programmer, Producer and Design Leads, to achieve the perfect balance between level fluidity and gameplay simplicity. Verify the quality of the levels integrated into the game by playing regularly. Be able to complete multiple versions of level quickly and efficiently. Self-motivated and willing to get involved in wider areas.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Game Design/Computer Science or equivalent experience. Outstanding portfolio.
SKILLS
Experience world building in Unity. Positive, solution-orientated individual, with a deep-rooted interest in video games, and game development. Understanding of prefab and instance creation. Bring innovation and resolution to technical problems and challenges throughout production. Interpersonal and communication skills to work closely with Artists, Designers and Programmers.

If you are interested in building ground-breaking Ai, Physics, and Movement systems within a creative and unconstrained environment, please get in touch. Programmers with technical, problem-solving skills are especially encouraged to apply. This position is unpaid at the moment.
WHAT WE DO

We develop systems, such as ambient character behaviors, group behaviors, combat behaviors, and more. We follow an iterative process where we tune and polish features.

Work closely with animators and designers to devise, implement, and debug complex systems and gameplay mechanics. Collaborate with the Lead Programmer, Producer and Design Leads, to achieve the perfect balance between animation fidelity and gameplay responsiveness. Verify the quality of the code integrated into the game by playing regularly. Be able to comment and write clean and easily readable code. Self-motivated and willing to get involved in wider areas.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Game Design/Computer Science or equivalent experience. Outstanding portfolio.
SKILLS
Experience coding in C# in Unity. Positive, solution-orientated individual, with a deep-rooted interest in video games, and game development. Skill in shader coding is a plus. An understanding of development within complex vector math strategies and Ai pathfinding. Bring innovation and resolution to technical problems and challenges throughout production. Interpersonal and communication skills to work closely with Artists, Designers and Producers.
